the thing i am scared of most is happening
when ed zander first came to be motorola's CEO, he started by doing a lot of homework. he looked around, met with people, and contacted a whole bunch of customers. he then started making BIG changes. this has always fascinated me. New CEO's always make changes to prove their worth, but how do these new CEO's become great CEO's? They don't get complacent. They keep doing more homework and keep changing things in an effort to continue to improve.
I feel I am falling into a trap. Lately, I've been so caught up in day-to-day crap that I feel like i've forgotten the important things. I'm cruising on auto-pilot. I am no longer focused on getting better. I'm focused on simply getting by. this is NOT acceptable and must change. right now. tomorrow is a new day and I promise I will do two things better.
Improve my staff: I will challenge my staff to delight one customer over the course of the next week.
Improve my store: I will research, create and/or invest in some sort of advertising for the store.
thanks to timmy for digging up this old post and reminding me of what is really important.
