the next goal
next up: this
exactly 72 days from today i will be attempting my first triathlon. now some of you (ok, probably all of you) will be wondering why i would make my first triathlon a half-ironman instead of a sprint or olympic (both are significantly shorter). well, i figure, if i'm gonna go for it, i may as well go all the way. my first running race ever was a marathon so how much harder can this be? shut up, i heard you. i know the answer to that. and to pre-empt any smartass "why don't you do the full ironman?" questions, it's because i don't want to die. eventually i'll do one but there's no way i can do it in less than 72 days.
to make it even more challenging, i want to be in the top 15 finishers and here is the breakdown i plan to do it with:
swim (1.2 miles) : 0:40
bike (56 miles) : 2:40
run (13.1 miles) : 1:40
==========================
grand spankin' total: 5 hours flat.
i can't even swim a 1/2 mile yet let alone 1.2 miles. this is gonna be interesting.
